Situated in the tiny, unspoilt hamlet of Lagarrigue,  La Maison du Four and Le Cantou are Traditional auvergne Stone Cottages that overlook this little known and very quiet part of the Lot Valley offering numerous opportunities for walking, sightseeing and relaxing. The River Lot is famous for canoeing and fishing.

Perched approximately 450 metres above the River Lot and the village of Vieillevie, La Maison du Four and Le Cantou  are surrounded by hills clad in cherry, oak and chestnut, the latter giving the whole area the title of ‘La Chataigneraie’’.

Staying At The Secret Lot

The cottages are built of stone under traditional lauze roofs and offer superb all year round accommodation.
Each has 2 double bedrooms and 2 en-suite bath/shower rooms.
The main bedroom in each house has a king-sized bed, vaulted ceiling with original beams and views over the Lot Valley. The en-suite bathroom has bath, toilet and handbasin.
The twin bedded rooms on the lower ground floor have an en-suite shower room with toilet and handbasin.

La Maison du four (sleeps 4)

Facing south and west, this cottage is ideally positioned to catch the light from morning to evening.

Le Cantou (sleeps 4)

Accessed from a terrace which affords shade at the hottest time of the day. A table, chairs and barbecue are provided.

The Lot is a place of hidden villages, quiet riverbanks, wonderful views and extensive history.


The riverside village of Vieillevie, a few minutes from the cottages, has a Chateau, excellent restaurant and a shop which supplies all daily requirements.


For the energetic there are many walks and canoeing on the River Lot is a must! Canoes and kayaks may be hired nearby and afford a unique view of this stunning valley.


There are many restaurants offering choices from the typically French menu du jour to haute cuisine.  The local Marcillac and Entraygues wines are highly recommended and the locally-produced goats’ cheese recently won prestigious awards.


Lagarrigue is one and a half hours from Brive airport, three hours from Toulouse or Limoges airports providing links to the UK by Easyjet, Ryanair and British Airways.
