With its Cathedral and medieval streets is well worth a visit.  Both Rodez and Aurillac have very large supermarkets on their outskirts.

Figeac (1hr)

A bustling town situated on the River Cele, with a wealth of timbered buildings and narrow, pedestrianised streets. Particularly worth a visit when the antiques market is held in the covered market.  Figeac is the birthplace of Champollion who first deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphics and a museum celebrates his work.

Capdenac le Haut (40mins)

Aurillac (??mins)

The lively town of Aurillac with its International street theatre and festival in August and access to skiing in winter, is only 40 minutes away to the north. Entraygues (20mins)

A market is held each Friday in Entraygues, a beautiful medieval town which sits at the confluence of the Rivers Truyère and Lot in the Aveyron department.  Its medieval bridge, across the Truyère, gives access to a shady square and cool, narrow streets.  Here are all the shops you will need including 2 small supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacy, bank, post office and newsagents.  There are many excellent cafés/bars and restaurants.

Montsalvy (20mins)

A small medieval walled town which hosts the annual ‘fête des paniers’ in August and art exhibitions in the Refectoire des moines throughout the summer months.
